Shelter Associates Slum Data System

As part of the work that Shelter Associates (SA) does, the SA social workers conduct surveys of the slums. Each structure of the slum is surveyed, and classified as amenities, community toilet, residential, shop or unknown. The SA social workers complete a socio-economic questionnaire for each residential structure. All this data is then entered into a database, and then cleaned-up to remove any errors introduced during data entry. The data is then used to write detailed reports of the conditions in each slum. This data can then be used by SA, other NGOs and local government to improve the facilities and infrastructure available in the slums.

This website was designed to display the data collected by SA in an easy-to-use format. You can choose the following options from the navigation bar along the top of the page:

City Wide - here you will be able to view city wide slum information for Pune, Sangli and Solapur. This part of the site is still under construction.
Slum Wide - here you are able to view data for each slum in Sangli. The slum data for Pune and Solapur is still under construction.
Home Wide - here you are able to see an example of the biometric data that is collected for each house in Sangli.
